Wednesday, July 21st, 2010

Amonix, a solar power company, announced during a press conference that they are opening a plant in Nevada and will be adding manufacturing jobs in San Antonio.

During the conference, Mayor Shari Buck said Amonix will be hiring almost 300 people. They plan on construct a manufacturing facility at 4975 N. Pecos Road in the Golden Triangle Industrial Park near the Craig Road and Interstate 15 interchange.

The bill is being footed by the government with a  $5.9 million tax credit from the American Reinvestment and Recovery Act and $12 million from private investors/

Las Vegas’s unemployment rate hangs at 15.9%, the highest in the nation. The mayor was thrilled to hear the news that Amonix would be opening a facility there and adding much-needed jobs to the metro area.

The company is hiring for management, production, and technical jobs. Workers at the plant will build components for solar energy systems to be used by municipalities and other large clients.

The plant should be done and on task to start running by the end of the year, officials said.

Amonix plans to advertise the jobs in the newspaper.

The company has pledged to hire as many local workers as possible to help ease the big gap between the employed and unemployed.

Amonix chose Vegas because the city was able to meet its deadlines for building and production. They looked at three other facilities before picking North Las Vegas.

Plus, there is never a lack of sunlight in Vegas, which is an obvious nesting ground for a solar manufacturer.

Over the past two years, Telesphere’s investors continued to show confidence in Telesphere’s business model, providing $35 million in additional capital. This amount is the most capital raised by any venture backed privately held company in Arizona during that period, and continues to strengthen Telesphere’s position in the marketplace as a leader in the hosted VoIP space.

The California presence will provide an opportunity for Telesphere Las Vegas to serve as a regional support hub to future California personnel.

“As investors in Telesphere and such a staple in the Las Vegas community, we are pleased to see Telesphere expanding in our local market,” said Gary O’Malley, Senior Vice President of Greenspun Corporation and Board Member for Telesphere. “Their eagerness to pursue ambitious business telecom initiatives has contributed to their fast growth and will lead them to continued success in the future.”

Headquartered in Phoenix, Arizona, Telesphere offers a customized VoIP business solution for every business, with additional offices in Salt Lake City, UT, Denver, CO, Portland, OR, and Minneapolis, MN.
