Casino hiring for hospitality jobs in Vegas

Saturday, May 21st, 2011

Casino MonteLago is preparing to hire for hospitality jobs in Vegas, according to local news reports.

The casino plans on hiring about 100 staff to plan for its Memorial Day reopening.

The casino, plagued by the recession and a drop-off of tourism, closed in 2009, only to reopen two year later.

It’s a sign that businesses in Lake Las Vegas are experiencing a resurgence.

According to Fox5, the closing announcement came shortly after the Ritz-Carlton announced it would close. That property recently reopened as the Ravella resort and added more than 100 new employees.

Unemployment in Vegas
and the state of Nevada has been higher than that of many other cities in the nation. The city’s unemployment rate has waffled from 13.3 percent to even higher numbers during the height of the recession.

It is not immediately known what kinds of jobs the casino will be staffing for, or what the wages will be.
