Call in for advice about Vegas jobs

Those who have questions can call in to a job seeker line to get advice for Vegas jobs.

Millions of Americans remain unemployed or underemployed. For those who are out of work or who feel stuck in their current job, help is available this holiday season.

For the 31st consecutive year, job seeking Americans will be able to obtain free advice from the professional career transition coaches at global outplacement firm Challenger, Gray & Christmas, Inc., which will suspend normal business operations for two days over the holidays to provide the service.

New online tool helps those with Vegas jobs

A new tool developed by the U.S. Labor Department may help those with Vegas jobs navigate medical and disability leave.

The launch of the Medical-and Disability-Related Leave Advisor culminates National Disability Employment Awareness Month, a national campaign held in October to mark the contributions of America’s workers with disabilities and to educate employers about how to effectively recruit and retain these workers. Effective stay-at-work and return-to-work initiatives for employees who experience unexpected illness or disability are among the options for employers.

The new tool asks users a few questions, such as type of business or organization, workforce size and if the entity receives federal financial assistance; with that information, the advisor quickly directs users to federal employment laws that apply and provides additional information.

These laws include the Family and Medical Leave Act which provides eligible employees of covered employers up to 12 work weeks of leave in a 12-month period for certain reasons, among them the employee’s own serious health condition; and the Americans with Disabilities Act and other disability nondiscrimination laws, under which leave may be considered a reasonable accommodation.

“We know that employers want to support their employees, especially when unexpected illness or injury occurs,” said Jennifer Sheehy, deputy assistant secretary of labor for Disability Employment Policy. “The new Medical-and Disability-Related Leave Advisor helps employers understand the intersection between different laws – including the FMLA and ADA – that may impact a worker’s right to leave.”

The leave advisor is one of a series of Employment Laws Assistance for Workers and Small Businesses Advisors the department provides to help employers and employees understand their rights and responsibilities under federal employment laws. Together, the department’s Office of Disability Employment Policy, Wage and Hour Division and Office of the Assistant Secretary for Policy developed the new tool.

City hires for aircraft mechanic jobs in Vegas

The LVMPD is now accepting applications for the position of Helicopter/Aircraft Mechanic.

Under general supervision, this position trouble shoots and diagnoses aircraft maintenance problems, performs duties related to routine maintenance, structural repairs, rebuilding and/or upgrading of major aircraft components and systems and maintains records.

Retail giant hires for customer service jobs in Vegas

Kohl’s, the retail giant, said recently it plans on hiring big for customer service jobs in Vegas.

The department store anticipates hiring more than 67,000 associates nationwide this holiday season to support seasonal business in stores and growth on

Kohl’s anticipates hiring an average of 50 associates per store to provide customers with excellent customer service throughout the holiday season at its 1,163 stores in 49 states.* In addition, the company anticipates hiring approximately 9,300 seasonal positions at distribution centers across the country and approximately 670 seasonal credit operations positions.

Hiring began this month, and most jobs will be filled by mid-November. Holiday positions are also being filled at the company’s distribution centers, where hiring began in August. Associates working at distribution centers help ensure Kohl’s products get to the retail stores and into the hands of customers. Associates working in Kohl’s credit operations perform a variety of jobs, including assisting customers with orders.
